Together Training apprentice learning on the job

Together Training apprentice Kayla has been working at Watford General Hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic, helping prep Intensive Care Unit wards.

As Kayla works toward completion of her apprenticeship in Property Maintenance, she works for the NHS as a general maintenance assistant, with a particular focus on carpentry.

During her time at Watford Hospital, she has had to learn quickly and adapt to a constantly evolving situation and change in staff.

Kayla explains: “In my new role I have been put right into the midst, but I’m coping well with the new situation and responsibilities at work.

“With the new and increased pressure on the NHS, my responsibilities have changed slightly but my daily focus remains on maintaining the hospital’s facilities. This varies from fixing doors and replacing locks.”

Managing Director of Together Training John McMahon added: “We are so impressed with how Kayla’s apprenticeship has allowed her to contribute to the NHS in this difficult time. Despite the changing landscape of her workplace and the demand in her job,”
