Together Training supports local student secure interview and apprenticeship to 'kick start' his career

Together Training has supported a former West Herts College student to secure an apprenticeship, helping him kick-start his career.

Nathan, who recently finished his studies in Engineering, had ambitions of a future in construction management. Nathan approached Together Training’s Managing Director, John McMahon, for assistance in his next step.

John explains: “Nathan was looking to progress his career after studying Level 3 Engineering at West Herts College.

“I recommended the Project Management apprenticeship programme ran by Together Training and the team helped Nathan secure his interview.

“Together Training also helped him prep for his interview at Murphy Group, a global engineering and construction company, where Nathan now works as an Apprentice Project Manager.”

Nathan, who has been at Murphy Group for just over 12 months, added: “After finishing at college I applied for a few things but I didn’t receive any responses to my applications.

“I knew a few people on apprenticeships and they said it was a really good way to get into the industry. I approached John who really helped me out and I feel so lucky to be where I am now.

“Since starting my apprenticeship I have received great support from my employer and Together Training. As part of the apprenticeship I have attended different master classes which have helped me to develop my project management knowledge.

“This has also helped me to reinforce my understanding and demonstrate skills in the workplace, as a result I have just passed my APM Project Management exam and I hope that once my apprenticeship is completed I can stay with Murphy Group as a Project Manager.”
